Currently, chef client uses the 1.0 protocol by default. If it detects the node name is too long, it decides to use 1.1.
I’d like to remove all the code that does that and just default to using 1.1. All servers since ~July 2012 have been supporting 1.1.
Does anybody have any objections to doing this?
+1, the only people that would need to reconfigure it are those using alternate servers that are still on 1.0, but those people can probably sort out the needed config options themselves.
For its part, goiardi supports 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2. This is not a problem for
Awesome, Ill start looking at cleaning some of this up today.
