We are delighted to announce the availability of Chef Automate 4.13.535.

## Security

- Updated the PostgreSQL 13 tuxcare patch to 1.0.1 to address the following CVEs:
  - CVE-2026-6473
  - CVE-2026-6475
  - CVE-2026-6471

- Updated NGINX to 1.31.4 LTS-2024 to address CVE-2026-9256, which fixes an `ngx_http_rewrite_module` vulnerability triggered by overlapping regex capture groups.
- Updated the OpenSearch tuxcare patch to 1.0.4 (1.3.20.tuxcare.1.0.4) to address the following CVEs in the bundled Apache CXF library:
  - CVE-2026-50623
  - CVE-2026-50633
  - CVE-2026-50634

- The same OpenSearch tuxcare patch update addresses the following CVEs in the bundled Spring Framework library:
  - CVE-2024-38816
  - CVE-2026-41855

- Updated the Apache CXF XKMS server bundled with OpenSearch to address CVE-2026-44930, which fixes an LDAP injection vulnerability.
- Updated Netty to address CVE-2026-50010, which fixes a vulnerability that bypassed hostname verification when a plain `X509TrustManager` was supplied.
- Updated the Apache Log4j version bundled with OpenSearch to address CVE-2026-49844, which fixes an improper JSON serialization issue.
- Upgraded the bundled Apache Log4j Core package to 2.25.4 to address the following CVEs:
  - CVE-2025-68161
  - CVE-2026-34477
  - CVE-2026-34480

- Updated the bundled Ruby `net-imap` gem to address multiple CVEs.
- Updated the core/ruby3\_1 pin to address a vulnerability in `rexml`.
- Updated Node.js to 24.21.0 and 22.23.0, and libcurl to 8.22.0, to resolve multiple CVEs.

## Bug fixes

- The OpenJDK crypto policy directory now has the correct permissions. Previously, incorrect permissions caused OpenSearch to repeatedly crash and restart.
- Distinguished names now correctly escape commas so they're valid in TOML. Previously, unescaped commas produced invalid TOML entries.
- The `backup-gateway` component now includes Content-MD5 checksums on multipart uploads. Previously, S3 Object Lock backups failed for multipart objects.
- The `license-control-service` test suite no longer races on `schema_migrations`. Previously, a flaky race condition caused intermittent test failures.

## Dependency updates

- Updated Chef Infra Server to 15.10.125.
- Updated the PostgreSQL 13 and PostgreSQL 14 client package versions, and the cs-nginx component packages.
- Rebuilt components on the latest dependency versions: Automate HA cluster-ctl, the load balancer, the local user service, and OpenJDK.
