Ohai Chefs!

We released the following cookbooks to the Community site. I’d like to make a special shout out to Jake Vanderdray from CustomInk for his awesome contributions to the Nagios cookbook! python v1.0.4

  • [COOK-960] - add timeout to python_pip

Hi,

I need to configure something on my system that requires a reboot to take effect… can I do that with Chef? Yes, it is Linux

Thanks in advance,

Geoff

yes… you can, using the execute resource. but that will abruptly terminate
the chef run, you can also achieve this using report handler to ensure that
the chef run is completed and then only reboot happens, also, you can use
chef to set a reboot after finishing the chef run using standard at
daemon.

We do it with a report handler in our windows cookbook for handling reboots.
