New Bento Vagrant Boxes

#1

Ohai, Chefs!

We updated our bento-built Vagrant base boxes, and they are available from
new URLs (in the same bucket). The main difference is that the chef
version is appended to the filename. As we update the boxes, we’ll follow
this convention. The existing boxes (such as those used in the current
release of Test Kitchen) have not been updated yet.

To update your local boxes:

vagrant box remove opscode-ubuntu-10.04
vagrant box add opscode-ubuntu-10.04

Cheers!

Awesome stuff, was already waiting for versioned bento base boxes for a
while. Nice, Like!, +1, etc…

Are there bento baseboxes for Chef 11 as well?

There’s no directory listing at https://opscode-vm.s3.amazonaws.com/vagrant/,
so I have tried
https://opscode-vm.s3.amazonaws.com/vagrant/opscode_ubuntu-12.04_chef-11.0.[0,2,4].boxto
no avail.

Are they not uploaded yet or is it just the wrong URL I’m trying?

Cheers, Torben

Hi Torben,

Not yet.

We don’t currently have basebox builds setup automatically in CI, so
they’ve been built and published manually up to this point, which is why
updates are infrequent.

Hopefully we can get some built and published this week. Per the new
naming convention, they’ll be:

opscode_ubuntu-12.04_chef-11.0.[0,2,4].box

In the vagrant directory of the opscode-vm bucket.

We’ll send a message to the Chef users list when they’re available.

Thanks,
Joshua
