# New Chef Beta Release Available

Ohai Chefs,

I just pushed another 0.10.6 beta release to [rubygems.org](http://rubygems.org). Since the last beta, we’ve addressed the following:

- Update only\_if/not\_if to use ShellOut. We have a much improved windows back end for ShellOut, so this should make only\_if/not\_if behave much better on Windows. As a bonus, you can now have multiple only\_if/not\_if conditionals on a resource.
- Fix a regression in the FreeBSD package provider
- Added a workaround for EOFErrors that occur when using SSL with multibyte characters on Ruby 1.9.x

in 10.0 is finally fixed.
