# Node Delete and User Delete

I’ve search the list archive and the web but I’ve not found anyone else that has mentioned this.
I’m testing chef 0.10.4 on Centos 5.
I’ve used both the rpm (chef-server) and the chef-solo bootstrap (to chef-server) methods.
I’ve found that I’m not able to delete nodes or users.
When I attempt to delete a node the webui simply cycles on itself.
When I attempt to delete a user I get a merb 404 error.
Is this a known bug?

how you are deleting(knife or webui ) ? are you using an admin client?

then you are an admin client. check the chef-server-log.

How did you install chef-server? I had a similar problem with RHEL 5 and
doing a manual install.

Doesn't logging in as "admin" via the webui, actually use the webui client? So the webui client needs to be granted admin priviliges before deletes via webui actually work?

webui is an admin client, i think chef-server-webui creates this admin
client as part of the installation process..

Here is the process that I been following for the manual install. I derived this from reading the wiki’s

I don't know if you would be willing to do this, but I ended up giving up on
trying to fix it, wiped the box and just used this installer instead.
