Has anyone put together any type of ohai or knife plugins list or
repository? My googling didn’t turn up any results. It would be great to
have something like the cookbooks site for ohai and knife plugins.

We plan to add a repo for this to the chef community site in the coming
months, but it's currently prioritized behind a few other deliverables. I'm
collecting requirements now, though, so please send me any thoughts you
have.

Thanks!

Can we maintain an up-to-date page on the Opsode wiki for the time being?

I'd be happy with just a wiki page with a list of links, although a
searchable repo would be nice. I was thinking about starting a wiki page in
the meantime with the few plugins I've found so far.
Of course, if we had a central repo on opscode for ohai and knife plugins,
it would be trivial to write a plugin for knife to install ohai and knife
plugins, which would be cool.

We'd love to see a page on the wiki for knife and ohai plugins until
we get the Community site listing them as well. Go ahead and start it
and I'm sure everyone will start adding additional listings and links.

Totally agree on a wiki page for now.

Here's my pathetic start to a wiki page with a list.

It's pretty much empty because I really could only find one when I searched,
which is why I asked if there was a list somewhere. 🙂 Maybe folks will
start adding their own plugins to the list.

Thanks John! Couple of changes:

- moved the page to be under "knife plugins" in the doc tree
- added three knife plugins
- added links to this page from "knife plugins"[1] and "writing ohai
plugins"[2]
- added "call out" to the Opscode Ohai Cookbook[3], which creates a
configured plugin path for distributing custom Ohai plugins, and reloads
them via Ohai within the context of a Chef Client run during the compile
phase.
- added the note from the knife plugins page about them being considered
an experimental feature.
- made it prettier 🙂

Hopefully it will grow from this beginning into being a useful community
resource.
