Thanks

Hi

But does this Chef Reporting works for Open source chef-server?

I'm using chef-server-11.

I installed knife reporting plugin using the command :
/opt/chef/embedded/bin/gem install knife-reporting

But when i executed the knife runs list command, I'm getting this error,

ERROR: The object you are looking for could not be found
Response: 404 Not Found

No, reporting is only in Enterprise Chef 11 or Chef Server 12 (in 12, there
is no longer a distinction between open source & commercial; it's the same
code base with premium features that you can turn on and off)

I installed Cher-server 12, but I'm not able to get the web ui (

But it displays

general, none of these have any HTML representations, and the vast majority
of them require that you are sending properly authenticated requests. So
while it's neat that you came to visit, you probably won't find what you

The Web UI is an add-on feature in Chef 12.

I installed chef-manage

$ chef-server-ctl install opscode-manage

and then:

$ opscode-manage-ctl reconfigure

But still I'm not able to get the Web UI. The Web UI url is as same as the
older versions? https://?

Documentation might be wrong. I believe you are going to need to
chef-server-ctl reconfigure as well to pick up the new nginx rules.

`opscode-manage-ctl reconfigure` should restart Chef server's nginx if its
own nginx configuration changes (which should happen after you install
it.), which should pick up the new nginx rules (manage adds files that the
nginx configuration loads in /var/opt/opscode/nginx/etc/addon.d.)

Julian's step of running chef-server-ctl reconfigure might work, or
chef-server-ctl restart nginx.

Are you still getting the page you got before you installed manage?

Thanks Julian, now I'm able to access the UI.

Now I have doubt regarding adding workstation server.

I installed chef, rpm -Uvh chef-11.16.2-1.el6.x86\_64.rpm

knife configure -i from the chef-repo folder, but I'm getting this error

_ERROR: Your private key could not be loaded from
/etc/chef-server/admin.pem_
