We’ve been doing some work behind the scenes to help improve your test experience with Kitchen. One of those improvements includes kitchen-dokken images fed directly from our release channels! Head over to chef/chef on the Docker Hub to check out these images.
As of kitchen-dokken 1.0.9, the default image will be our
chef:chef/latest image. This tag is tied to whatever version of Chef was most recently promoted to Stable. If you are using kitchen-dokken 1.0.9 today, no action is necessary. If you are using an older version of kitchen-dokken, you just need to set the
chef_image setting in your kitchen.yml.
driver: name: dokken chef_image: chef/chef chef_version: latest
However! If you want to help us better detect regressions you can use the
chef/chef:current image! The current tag is associated with the most recent version of Chef to hit the “current” channel. Updating your kitchen-dokken driver to use this version of Chef will help us detect potential regressions before they are promoted to stable.
driver: name: dokken chef_image: chef/chef chef_version: current
For an example of using the
chef/chef:current image, you can check out the chef-client cookbook.
Thank you all, and happy testing!
