403 Forbidden midway through convergence

Hi,

While bootstrapping a node I received a 403 error. It was during the convergence of a template, so I’m quite sure that the problem was not related to the resource, but to the Chef Server.

This is an OSS Chef Server inside a VPC.

The error message can be seen here: http://pastebin.com/Z73NXiJL

How do I go about debugging this?

Thanks!

Cassiano,

When I’ve see that problem, it’s been because the chef-client run has taken
too long, usually over an hour. I have some nodes that when built from
scratch take a very long time because of compiling multiple versions of
ruby, node.js, and some other things. If I run a second time, it generally
completes without issue. I found a discussion of this somewhere, but I can’t
now remember where, probably on Opscode’s issue tracker.

This workaround did solve my issue.

Jared Russel had already pointed me to this same ticket, but he replied in private (mail client’s default reply option, I guess).

Thanks guys for the help!
