Chef-client "sleep"

Hi All,

Thanks to Opscode improved “status” page where I can see the “last check-in” date, I have discovered that some of my nodes haven’t run the chef-client for 3-4 days.
When I login to these, I can successfully run the chef-cient manually, I can also see that the chef-client process is running on the background with an interval of 30 min.
Any ideas on why I see this behaviour ?

Thanks !

Your logs should be able to tell you, grab a look in /var/log/chef/ it
should have details of whatever happened, which will be needed to figure
this out.

A quick rough stab in the dark guess is it may be down to environment
variables, like $PATH, being slightly different for a logged in user vs
the running chef process.
