If anyone is interested I've updated my alternative rvm based
bootstrap for CentOS 5 to 0.10.2 (with 0.10.4 to quickly follow):
it leverages the latest versions of rvm, ruby and rubygems to provide
a relatively self contained install that shouldn't conflict with the
provided system ruby, rubygems or any dependent packages installed via
rpm. Although it's not compatible with a gem or rpm based Chef
install.
Haven't had time to test it on CentOS 6 but am interested in any feedback.
