Instructions on how to move Chef-server to a new machine

I followed the documentation to migrate a chef server from one machine to the other. The process was not smooth and there were postgresql errors that I don’t know if they’re safe to ignore.

I have a few nodes that I can’t point to the new server because they are behind a firewall that I don’t control. This required me to copy ssl certificates and keys to the new server so they can connect.

That was not mentioned in the documentation, so I’m afraid to migrate to the newly created server.

Can somebody provide a step by step migration process that works?

This is a recently written guide that covers one way . Unfortunately no upgrade is foolproof and as you’ve seen from Slack/IRC finding a chef-server expert isn’t necessarily a guaranteed thing. Knife-tidy could help here
