The team decided to delay the Supermarket upgrade due to feedback that we got from customers. Thanks (especially to the users in #supermarket) for that feedback. We’ll have another announcement with more info coming soon.

Also, there will be no community meeting next week as it falls on the Thanksgiving holiday here in the US. We will not be streaming on Twitch or Youtube next week either. We’ll be back on Tuesday, November 30th with live streams, and Thursday, December 2nd with our scheduled community meeting.

The coverage of the last week includes:

  • Nginx version upgraded to 1.21.3, OpenJDK version upgraded to 11.0.2, Ruby upgraded to 3.0
  • CVE fixes (CVE-2021-23017, CVE-2021-2161, CVE-2021-2163)
  • Documentation update: We need 8GB RAM to install Automate
  • Security: Content security policy header has been added to resolve blank screen after SAML login
  • Telemetry: New global events to capture node usage details
  • CLI: chef-automate ssh, automate-backend-elasticsearch, automate-backend-postgres commands and --dev flag implementation
  • Node manager: search node managers by name, filter them by type (Azure, AWS, GCP), load more option for node managers
  • Scan job: Workflow to add new node credential from scan job view
  • System: Cron job to update certificates for A2 environment every 3months
  • Services: Ability to export custom JSON report
  • Infra Server views: Paginator UI for roles
  • Integration tests to get and delete Policyfiles
  • Compliance profiles update: Window 2016 v1.2.0

Hi All! Here are the updates from the Workstation & Community Tools team this week..

Ready for release / completed

  • Addressed few test-kitchen issues [1] & [2]
  • The fix to chef-vault issue is ready to merge
  • Homebrew package publish script fixed

Work-in-progress

  • Fix for knife bootstrap issue still being worked on. Specifically, addressing a fallback client installation flow.
  • Investigating issue with reboot resource
  • Implementing chef env in Golang
  • Identifying what telemetry data is sent via workstation already, and what more could be added.
  • Identified some changes that are needed in the build configuration to support Apple M1 ARM64 architecture.
  • Pre-work on moving knife supermarket to the chef CLI.

What's Next?

  • Support ad hoc chef-run on AIX
