Hi All,
Currently we are using Puppet for maintaining our hosts and environments. We are planning to migrate from Puppet to Chef.
Can you please suggest some good approach for this?
Thanks
Devesh

We are doing this where I work. We are taking our puppet manifests and
porting them over one-for-one as cookbooks. We are doing some consolidation
along the way but it pretty much a one-for-one conversion.

I would recommend you start with one type or class of server and get that
server fully migrated to Chef. That might be a "database server", a "web
server", an "application server", or some other type of server you have in
your environment. I'd work on getting that fully migrated to Chef from the
developer's workstation through to production. Once that's complete, I'd
move along to other types of servers in that same application stack until
you have one application fully migrated over to Chef. Then repeat the same
process for your remaining applications.
Good luck and let us know if there's anything additional we can do to
assist!
