Hi all,
Is it possible to change the chef install path? The infra team does not like the fact that the chef installs in c:\opscode.
Cheers,
Florian

From Chef client MSI logs, I see that there is a property called “INSTALLLOCATION” but I don’t see it being used anywhere, almost all the paths are hard-coded to C:\opscode…

for the linux side of the house according to this FAQ you can't change the
installation path
I'm only assuming the same goes for the windows side.

Download Chef Infra Client | Chef

Windows as a platform has better support for changing install locations, so we’re looking into supporting this eventually. One issue is that a lot of things don’t support paths with spaces correctly and these are largely out of our control. So the outlook for being able to install chef to C:\Program Files (if this is what you want to do) is pretty grim. If you search around for issues with Ruby DevKit and installing to ‘Program Files’, you’ll find plenty of examples.
