This coming up Wednesday we’ll be releasing a large update to the Windows cookbook that will require extra attention for those that have utilized the resources in this cookbook. In Chef 12 we migrated many of the resources from the Windows cookbook to the chef-client itself, where they’ve been improved over the last 18 months. The resources in the Windows cookbook were marked deprecated and now has come the time to fully remove those resources. It should be noted that the names of the resources and some of their properties differ between the cookbook and chef-client. You’ll want to make sure you’re using the chef-client version of the following resources vs. their legacy windows cookbook versions.

reboot vs. windows_reboot
