Chef Client for Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows 8.1

Hi All,

I wonder what is the official support statement for Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows 8.1? I have been running chef-client (v11.8.2 for Windows Server 2012) on my workstation machine which is Windows Server 2012 R2 and so far I have not seen any issues. I would like to setup a laptop, which runs Windows 8.1, as my workstation.

Any idea?

Thanks

-Kapil

Kapil, Windows Server 2012 R2 is supported. I’ve filed this ticket to make
sure the platform support is stated publicly to avoid the confusion - our
apologies: https://tickets.opscode.com/browse/CHEF-5109.

You can also see explicit references and commits that were made in Chef
tooling to support Windows Server 2012 R2:
