does anybody know what is the exact aix version required for chef-client to run ?.. I’d like to know what is the maintenance/technology level I need to patch my systems to.

It’s a tier-2 platform so we don’t build specific packages for it or test extensively, but we have customers on it. You can use the RHEL binaries on SLES (assume you’re talking about SLES and not OpenSUSE)
