Chef Workstation 0.15.6 Released!

We are delighted to announce the availability of version 0.15.6 of Chef Workstation.

Updated Components

Chef Infra Client

Chef Infra Client has been updated from 15.6 to 15.7 which includes improvements to the archive_file, cron, cron_d, file, launchd, sudo, user, windows_task, and x509_certificate resources as well as the usual collection of bug fixes and bootstrap improvements.

Berkshelf

Berkshelf has been updated from 7.0.8 to 7.0.9, which resolves errors when running berks verify and when using the --skip-syntax-check flag.

Cookstyle

Cookstyle has been updated from 5.19 to 5.20 with a new Chef cop ChefDeprecations/DeprecatedChefSpecPlatform to detect legacy platforms in ChefSpecs. This release also includes improvements to autocorrection and detection of deprecated content in the Chef cops.

Chef InSpec

Chef InSpec has been updated from 4.18.39 to 4.18.51 with the following improvements:

  • Example groups can now use InSpec resources
  • The user resource can now check the last login date on Windows
  • Improved the fetchers to fail consistently

Debian Support

We now produce Chef Workstation packages for Debian 8 and 9.

macOS Binary Signing

Each binary in the macOS Chef Workstation installation is now signed to improve the integrity of the Workstation installation and improve compatibility with future macOS updates.
