Cookbook to manage upgrades of Chef client (and from gem Chef -> Omnibus Chef?)

Hey Chefs,

I seem to recall hearing about a cookbook which manages upgrades for
Omnibus Chef. I thought it also handled moving from a system gem Chef to
the Omnibus install, and would clean up the old gems for you.

After much searching today, I can’t seem to find the cookbook. The only
Opscode cookbook I could find is chef-client, which just seems to manage
the scheduling of the client, not its upgrades.

Can someone point me in the right direction, or am I going crazy and such a
thing never existed?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris,

Hi all,

I do a pull request about this:

Why using another cookbook instead of having the same behavior than
chef-server?
