It’s from here http://wiki.opscode.com/display/chef/Package+Installation+on+Debian+and+Ubuntu
Precisely the part:
If you do not want the webui installed, install the chef-server-api
package only.
sudo apt-get install chef chef-server-api
This does the same as above without the chef-server-webui service.

You say you followed the documentation - as there are different
installation guides dependent upon the operating system, can you
provide a link or reference to the specific documentation that you
followed?

Hey,
Following the documentation to install chef via package without
webui leaves me with a chef sever install without initial admin
client and validation certificate, is it the intended behavior? If
so how to generate those 2 certificates?
