Stale chef_package.chef.version on server

We have Chef 12.3.0 nodes reporting in successfully. They’ve been at
12.3.0 for many weeks.

knife search ‘chef_packages_chef_version:11*’ -a
chef_packages.chef.version shows a bunch of those nodes’ attributes
still showing 11.x

Thoughts?

take any of the 11* box, and start checking
env -i /opt/chef/bin/chef-client -v
/opt/chef/embedded/bin/gem which chef
