Using Chef to build Jenkins nodes?

Folks,

I’m in the process of figuring out how to set up Jenkins and to build a Jenkins infrastructure for the platforms, projects, languages, build tools, etc… we need to support, and I’d like to be able to make sure that all this can be automated with Chef so that I can easily spin up new Jenkins nodes as necessary.

I’m assuming that I’m not the first person to want to do this, but I’m not sure if anyone else has done this and documented their work. Does anyone have any suggestions for places to look for more information on this concept?

Thanks!

The jenkins community cookbook (community.opscode.com) works great for me.

Indeed, many many times:

We use Jenkins (fully automated) at the core of our Pennyworth service
delivery platform / continuous delivery system
