[ANNOUNCE] Additional facebook "core cookbooks" released

Ohai Chefs!

I’m happy to announce we (Facebook) have open-sourced 7 more "core cookbooks"
from our internal repo! These cookbooks are as we use them internally for a
variety of different use-cases, so the APIs should be very comprehensive.

The new cookbooks are:

  • fb_dracut
  • fb_grub
  • fb_hdparm
  • fb_iptables
  • fb_sysfs
  • fb_timers
  • fb_tmpclean

Of particular interest to most people will probably be fb_iptables, fb_timers,
and fb_grub.

As always, issues and PRs are welcome. We hope these additional cookbooks will
make it even easier to try out the attribute-driven model we use without
having to maintain the core of it yourselves.

This is great, Phil.

Since these aren’t on the Supermarket, where should people look to find
these cookbooks?

Hey Charles,

Oops! Can't believe I didn't include the URL! Thanks for catching that.

You can find them at GitHub - facebook/chef-cookbooks: Open source chef cookbooks.

Also now that there's prefixes in Supermarket, adding them there is on the
list to look at.
