Chef Automate Release 0.5.271

We are delighted to announce release 0.5.271 of Chef Automate. The release is available for download from https://downloads.chef.io/automate or in the stable channel on packages.chef.io.

New Features

This update adds an initial data integration between Habitat and Chef Automate. Habitat users can use the new Prism package to send Habitat Ring data to Chef Automate (read all about it at https://docs.chef.io/habitat_prism.html), and then see the current status of their Habitat Ring within Chef Automate as part of the Kibana dashboard.

The release also includes a beta of the Job Dispatch feature. Job Dispatch replaces Chef Push Jobs as the way to set up build nodes and run build cookbook phases on them. Job Dispatch-style build nodes can coexist with Push Jobs build nodes, so it is safe to run them in parallel. For more information on setting up and using this feature, please see the detailed release notes document.

We are also excited to announce a beta of the enhanced GitHub integration. Three key areas of improvements were made: improved navigation between the integrated solution to reduce repetitive project creation/deletion; tighter information exchange between GitHub/Automate for easy reference of data sources; and overall readability improvements including error handling, messages, and fonts.

We encourage you to upgrade often. As always, we welcome your feedback and invite you to contact us directly or participate in our feedback forum. Thanks for using Chef Automate!
