Chef Compliance 1.5.6 Released

Chef Compliance 1.5.6 is now available from the Chef downloads site. This is a minor release update which is recommended for all users of Chef Compliance. Here are the enhancements and bug fixes included in this release:

Enhancements:

  • All users can now change their password from Profile > Preferences
  • Patch Management scanning is no longer selected by default and the selection is remembered for the session
  • Trying to add duplicate users or organizations returns a more descriptive error message
  • Ubuntu package now includes both deb and rpm packages for the chef-gate service
  • Use WinRM v2 when remote scanning Windows nodes
  • Includes InSpec 0.33.2 with numerous improvements and fixes

Fixed bugs:

  • ssl resource skips tests on Windows nodes
  • Speed up the ssl resource by running protocol checks in parallel. Find a sample profile here for using the ssl resource.
  • InSpec’s service resource to accept Windows service name with spaces
  • Fix OS exception in InSpec’s mysql resource
  • Fix paths in InSpec’s apache_conf resource
  • base/ssh profile to show file permissions in octal
