Is there an updated version of the omnibus installer for rhel/centos
available? The last one I got was 10.8 I believe.

There sure is! We’ve included all platform other than Windows in our new automated build / test pipeline. Omnibus releases usually show up within a few hours of the gem being cut. Just point your browser at www.opscode.com/chef/install for install instructions and links to the rpm.

We haven't released any supported server builds yet beside the preview
that was linked to. A beta release of Chef 11 using Omnibus Server
packaging is planned for about three weeks from now.
