Chef Workstation 0.6.2 Released!

We are delighted to announce the availability of version 0.6.2 of Chef Workstation.

Bug Fixes

  • Rubygems has been rolled back to 3.0.3 to resolve duplicate bundler gems that shipped in ChefDK 4.1.7. This resulted in warning messages when running commands as well as performance degradations.
  • Fixed 'chef install foo.lock.json' errors when loading cookbooks from Artifactory.

Red Hat 8 Support

Chef Workstation builds are now validated for Red Hat 8. Red Hat 8 builds are now listed on and our Omnitruck API

Updated Components

knife-ec2 1.0.8

Knife-ec2 has been updated to 1.0.8. This release removes previously deprecated bootstrap command-line options that were removed from Chef Infra Client 15.

knife-vsphere 3.0.1

Knife-vsphere has been updated to 3.0.1 to resolve Ruby warnings that occured when running some commmands.

Fauxhai 7.4.0

Fauxhai has been updated to 7.4.0, which adds additional platforms for use with ChefSpec testing.

  • Updated suse 15 from 15.0 to 15.1
  • Added a new redhat 8 definition to replace the 8.0 definition, which is now deprecated
  • Updated all amazon and ubuntu releases to Chef 15.1
  • Added debian 10 and 9.9

Chef InSpec 4.7.3

Chef InSpec has been updated to 4.7.3, which adds a new ip6tables resource and includes new aws-sdk gems that are necessary for the Chef InSpec AWS Resource Pack.

Security Fixes

The lodash package in the Workstation menu bar application has been updated to 4.17.14 to resolve CVE-2018-16487
