Knife-ec2 0.5.12 Release Announcement

Ohai Chefs,

We just released knife-ec2 0.5.12. This release fixes a number
of bugs and brings new features such as ec2 instance tagging, a
–purge option to remove the node and client related to an
instance on server delete, and a bump in in our fog dependency
allowing users to create instances in us-west-2.

Those upgrading should note that knife-ec2 now depends on the latest
version of Chef and a recent version of Fog, which could cause
dependency conflicts with other knife plugins. Further, the default
bootstrap template has changed to the “chef-full” template which uses
the omnibus installer.

This release cycle has been a long one. We hope to provide
shorter knife-ec2 release cycles moving into the future.

Bugs

[KNIFE_EC2-49] - Need to delete rackspace from gemspec file
[KNIFE_EC2-51] - AWS returns ENETUNREACH while instance is firing up
[KNIFE_EC2-53] - fix column widths for server lists
[KNIFE_EC2-54] - Explicit 'chef' dependency for the plugin
[KNIFE_EC2-56] - ubuntu10.04-gems should not be the default for

knife ec2 server create

Improvements

[KNIFE_EC2-39] - Failing specs
[KNIFE_EC2-41] - Upgrade Fog dependency from 0.8.2 to 1.1.x

cleanup with nodes and clients
