The Fourth Chapter of Chef Has Arrived: Progress to Purchase Chef

Chef Community,

I wanted to inform you personally about some exciting changes happening at Chef. A few hours ago, we announced that Chef has signed a definitive agreement to be acquired by Progress. We expect the transaction to be finalized over the next 30 days or so and, once completed, Chef will become an integral part of Progress.

This is an exciting moment for our community, customers and employees. At the same time, we are excited to continue to partner with you and support the Open Source communities around our products. Through the acquisition, Chef’s community will benefit from working with an established, publicly traded company with significantly greater resources to support our ongoing efforts. Progress is already a trusted provider of some of the best products to develop, deploy and manage high-impact business applications. Chef is complementary to their existing offerings, and will add new capabilities like continuous delivery, application delivery, compliance, desktop management, remediation automation and more. What’s more, Progress has a forty-year track record of supporting open source and developer communities.

Once the deal is complete, Progress will be focused on continuing and executing on Chef's business model and product roadmaps and supporting your business. Our unwavering commitment to your success will continue, and will remain a top priority as Chef enters this new chapter as part of the global Progress family.

I know that a change of this nature can trigger uncertainty, but we are looking forward to the opportunities that lie ahead and to the benefits the acquisition will allow us to provide to you.

For more information on the transaction, please see the press release, and this blog post from Progress. Please join us in our Community spaces for more discussion.
