Email list legibility

I was wondering: are there options to substantially simplify the format of
the emails I am now receiving from Discourse? I poked around in the UI and didn’t
find any.

Notably, these emails include usernames, pictures and
dates (all of which are available in my email client’s UI aready) and it feels
surprisingly harder to read than the previous list format. I’d really
just like the body of the emails/posts instead of all the extra
formatting. Is that possible?

There doesn’t seem to be. I’ve been reading the history over on the Meta site (/cc @sam_saffron) and it seems like the goal with the emails was to match the web display as much as possible. I’m pulling down the Discourse code now and will see how hard it would be to add a fix for this as a plugin.

Also, you apparently can’t send an email reply whose content is “+1” as I
just tried to do to this thread:

We’re sorry, but your email message to [“
discourse+f43457a8ebf82d7cf26c0f28b6c5ef99@chef.io”] (titled Re: [Chef
Forums] [Site Feedback] Email list legibility) didn’t work.

Reason:

Body is too short (minimum is 20 characters)
Body is invalid; try to be a little more descriptive

If you can correct the problem, please try again.

I’m getting the config cleaned up, the minimum post length should now be 2.

Testing email stuffs, please ignore.

Did you guys try out the new Customizable Email Templates? Any feedback?
