Hey Chef’s!
We’re hiring a new member of our Ops team and we’d like to hire someone who is a member of the chef community as it’s clearly our present and future. We’ve been partnering with the fine folk at Opscode who have written a solid portion of our automation “so far” and now we’re looking for top talent without poaching from our partners
iWin is: A leading, well established, and growing game company with proven success in both downloadable and online (facebook) games.
The iWin Ops team is: A small dedicated team that is well balanced, likes seeing things done the “right way” and respects the people they work with.
The iWin Ops environment is: Mostly standard with some legacy nipping at our heals, half chef’d with a strong need for more automation, mostly doc’d. Traditional colo driven but expanding to the cloud (rackspace and aws).
Our technology stack is: Chef, Ubuntu LTS, Tomcat, Percona Mysql, Memcached, MongoDB, Redis, Varnish, ActiveMQ. The engineering team is mostly agile and uses a REST framework. We have lots of other “ops” tech in use; such as: rdiff-backup, nagios/munin, vmware, svn, confluence, jira, and more.
We’re looking for: Someone who may not be an expert in all the above today but has a proven track record of becoming an expert when the need arrives. Someone who isn’t afraid of dealing with users when users are engineers that “get it” and ask for things like revoking of privileges in staging. Someone who can take an on-call shift, someone who can manage work and life and understands that success in that means happiness and happiness means increased productivity. We’d like someone in the SF Bay Area but are open to the right candidate in a remote domestic (US based) location.

Thanks for your time!
