Updates

Engineering Leadership Updates

@George Westwater & @Sudharshan Kaushikk were unable to be here today but they passed down the following update:

The Infra Client 18 release is still in testing across multiple Linux and Windows versions. We will continue to provide the community updates as they become available. Given the additional time and delay in the Infra Client 18 release, we are going to make some adjustments to the release process this year. This year we will depart from the historical April release process. This year we will first release 18.0 as a release candidate (RC), which will have the same quality and stability as the typical April release.I understand that this delay and any changes in the process will come as a surprise and will drastically affect some of your existing scheduling and planning. We will be scheduling some time to discuss the details of this process change with all of you soon. A blog post will go out tomorrow that discusses similar items in this message. The choice to have a special release candidate process for this year comes out of many discussions (both internal and external) centered around the best way to support the needs of all Infra Client users. We hope this is a step in the right direction in providing a more gradual upgrade process for risk-averse environments (or environments required to be or still on N-1).We will be hosting additional sessions specifically to better understand how our release process impacts you, and your teams, and ask for your help in crafting a more inclusive process going forward
